Every Tuesday, step by step, I’m walking with my readers from A to Z, last week we had M (visit tagged M), so this week we have “N” – I’m sure you’ll find a story or a short reflection tagged with “N”! Feel free to add in the comments the link to your personal interpretation of the letter “N”!!! Myself I’ll feature N for NIGHT:

frizz-comment: take the photo (shot by my wife Barbara) as a metaphor for my diary words: “there’s a shade behind all lights …”
comments by several readers at wordpress and flickr:
1 – george-b: It will fill the space, next to “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light get’s in” (Leonard Cohen- Anthem)…. Indeed the sadness behind the joy….Some cannot balance it, the joy around them is too appeasing – oppressing; The shade before the everlasting darkness.
2 – thirdhandart: There is a thinly veiled curtain between one person’s joy and another’s sorrow.
3 – TheWomanAtTheWell: I feel like I’ve been on a train going through a long dark tunnel. Thanks for shining your light for me so I know there’s and end!
4 – semprevento: I think I felt a great sadness. The days go by and leave both of us …. something that is not cleared.
5 – granbee / Rose: Thanks so much for including this shot of the ever-revolving lighted “rides” high above the dark gloomy building. Every time I see a new NASA telephoto of a “new” black hole, I am reminded that dark and light always accompany each other in the universe, both outside and inside ourselves.
6 – frizz-reply: the other part of the wheel is digging through the hell …
Pingback: [Photo Journal/ A-Z Photo Challenge] N is for Nature |
Hi there Frizz! 🙂 Here’s my contribution for this week: N is for Nature – more glorious greens from the Singapore Botanical Garden!
“You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert.
You only have to let
the soft animal of your body
love what it loves…”
your quotation has been my mental road map
while baby-sitting last week
(0ne of my daughters had to make her
Dr. promotion, so I had this unusual job –
a chance to refresh my concepts of
[emotional] education …)
Frizz, what a photo Barbara took. The image could represent a lot of things…maybe a glimmer of hope in such empty places?
I like your last sentence at
“10:15 PM – 1:15 AM:
Relaxing at my kitchen banquette
with a glass of Porto
and my iPad
viewing my WordPress reader,
experiencing the exciting world
and lives of my
Thank you Frizz. Relax is a time that should be longer in my days. Have a good weekend 🙂
Thank you again for a great challenge. For ‘N’, my response is “No Such Thing As An Odd Couple.” http://naomibaltuck.wordpress.com/2012/10/24/no-such-thing-as-an-odd-couple/
Naomi, you’ve created a wonderful gallery describing love! I was amused by the kangaroo!
“N” for “Naomi”!
Oh, my gosh, it never even occurred to me! Next time around, for sure!

such an unusual nightscape – looks almost like a miniature town.
Hope my entry is not Null and void 😉 http://eljaygee.wordpress.com/2013/04/02/tagged-n-for-null/
hi Laura, I like your humorous comment very much:
“So close to complete metamorphosis, this moth nearly made the tagged M post. Instead it came to naught, eternally attached to the nothingness of its empty pupa. Such is Nature, in a statement of near but yet so far, nigh on, null and void, tagged N post…”

“A nomad I will remain for life,
in love with distant and uncharted places.”
“N” for Nomad …

“…I can’t resist this one: Nosepicking…” –
nice neighbours’ gallery, Rosanne!
and I like the comment to your post by “fullstop”:
“It’s not nice and in fact rather nasty to nosepick, especially when your Norwegian neighbors are nearby nibbling on nachos. That’s never nice, nearly negligent, quite narcissistic and very nasal…”

I like it very much!
Here is my entry….
Hope you like it! A wink to Don Quijote!
I like your comment “… I wonder what Don Quixote would have thought if confronted with this …Nest of Needles in the Night…”
compare my post about Cervantes’ Don Quijote:
Your picture is so beautiful!!!
Talking about the interpretation of the book what I find interesting about it is how people have been able to find in it an answer to their own ideologies..Satiric, sad, idealist, nihilist, primitive, a fight between idealism and realism…I suppose this is possible because it is a big opus…
a basic landmark of European literature:
you can find my amazon book review
Doubts are needed…But the problem with Sancho is that they prevent him from acting…He is not able to foresee…He, somehow, prefers to stay in his own place, with his own reality, in his own world, comfy and warm…On the other hand…Lots of heroes go ahead without even thinking…(nowadays we all know a lot of “anointed”…) and at the end the reality lost its importance to them,,.
I think Cervanted was very clever in exaggerating both characters…
“Cervantes was very clever in exaggerating both characters…” –
yes, it has been the invention of irony for the European literature!!!

You got some great responses on this one, Frizz … Loved Imelda’s and Naomi’s among others.

“There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light get’s in” … I love this line. This is a great post … both the image and what is written below.
There were 3 different things I had in mind for your challenge, Frizz. In the end I picked this one. I may post the others with some of the other letter. Happy Letter – N – Day ….
“…when you visualize
you want to change a thought
that has been creating negativity for you in your life.
You want to reflect on that thought
– painful or happy – and
contemplate if it is something to keep and treasure
or something that needs to be thoughtfully changed…”
adding a good illustration
often changes a negative topic
to a good one …
Surprising how nefarious the N challenge was! Please have a look at
“…Night lies Naked
Upon the Noble
Noncommital the Narrows
Neck and Neck
Nerves into Nothingness…”
great lyrics again!
When the night has come
and the land is dark…
Thanks so much – I love the night!
hi Frizz, i am so sorry for the late submission … i hope you would still appreciate this: http://alwaysbobswife.wordpress.com/2013/04/08/tagged-n-negatives/ — APRIL
