Last week we had the “T”-challenge, so this week we’ll create a new turn with “U” – I’m sure you’ll also find a photo, a story or a music title tagged with “U”! Feel free to add in the comments below the link to your personal interpretation of the letter “U”!!! Myself I’ll focus on the “Uncle Bud”:

UNCLE BUD

let me sing about “Uncle Bud” for you:

  1. Hi, there. Thanks for another great challenge. As it is Memorial Day here in the US, and we are looking at ‘U’ here is a story about my Uncle Lewis.

    • you made my eyes fill with tears… “On September 20, 1944, the day before his company attacked the Siegfried Line, Staff Sergeant Lewis Baltuck was killed by the blast of a shell. Twenty years old, he had hardly begun to live…” – because as German we all feel guilty (though I was born 1945, starting my life in an orphanage)

  3. Hello Frizz. Sounds good. My contribution will be an Up in the Bronx post. Say, are you interested in reviewing another book? The second novel is finally printed up. I’m linking to a post with the Up in the Bronx song called Moon Tides, which I think is one of my better ones. http://bumbastories.wordpress.com/2012/09/16/moon-tides/

you touched my heart with the video, the “… 1966 documentary tells the story of 734 Polish children who were adopted by New Zealand in 1944 as WWII refugees. Moving interviews, filmed 20 years later, document their harrowing exodus from Poland: via Siberian labour camps, malnutrition and death, to being greeted by Prime Minister Peter Fraser on arrival in NZ. From traumatic beginnings the film chronicles new lives (as builders, doctors, educators, and mothers) and ends with a family beach picnic…”
