TUESDAY’S A TO Z CHALLENGE
Event Type: General Blogging
Start Date: Tuesdays, recurring weekly
Description: Every Tuesday I offer the A to Z challenge walking step by step through the alphabet.
+
Every Tuesday, step by step, I’m walking with my readers from A to Z, last week we had the “U”-challenge, so this week we’ll take “V” – I’m sure you’ll also find a photo, a story or a music title tagged with “V”! Feel free to add in the comments below the link to your personal interpretation of the letter “V”!!! Myself I’ll focus on the topic “Volkswagen”:
VOLKSWAGEN
Volkswagen was in my life symbol of a lifestyle. Metaphors for mobility. They helped to escape from a small local horizon: Just as we climb today within minutes over the horizon of our environment: surfing the Internet! A feeling of freedom.

hello Myra,

great Vegas gallery –
and I like your tags,
they are like a laconic poem:
~
“bellagio in las vegas,
coca cola in las vegas,
glitter and glam in vegas,
greek inspired column in las vegas…”
+
P.S.:
and now I have to go to a hospital,
no fun…, it’s 6 a.m. –
and because I’m not a cat,
it’s not a VET who will
try to help me now …
my cat Emily,
waiting for me
to come back from the hospital
to play banjo again –
good luck to me.

Great vintage Volkswagon – this challenge was made for you ! When my children were young it was the custom to call it a “punch buggy” and punch the person next to you : ) Yep. It was wide spread and not just my kids : )

A karman Ghia, a beetle, a Kombi and all with the same base of engine !
And now, VW replaced it with the Scirocco, the Golf and the Caravelle, so far from the original wagen für das folk, as Ford is not producing the T-Model equivalent, citroen the 2CV… and Tata made a mistake with the Nano in India.
We are not ready to drive those cars now, with no comfort, no air-conditioning, music, …. We changed too

I hear it more because I drive one, but I actually think it when I see others as well. Old habits die hard. 😉

New one. (See my after pic). I’ve had a ’61, ’65, and 2003 bug. Also a 70 karman ghia (spelling????) and a ’64 I think it was, VW camper that got me to California and back in 1970. Now I have a 2013 bug. Love them! Punch buggy!!!! No punch backs! 😉

I have some fond memories of the VW – as a twenty-something I travelled through 13 countries in Europe, hitting the road in a VW camper … with another couple and their 2 year old son and 6 month old daughter … three months on the road. We also owned a ’73 Super Beetle which has less fond memories of driving in -30F with little or no heat and stalling at the lights … with 3 young children in the back seat. Happily a there was a good Samaritan on the road that day.
