cranes injured in thick fog

Last week we noticed up above our heads the sound of large numbers of cranes coming from Spain headed to Poland, crossing Germany. But then the weather suddenly turned worse. Fog, snow, coldness. As the SPIEGEL magazine reported: Cranes, flying low, crashed into buildings or were hurt by cars when they, exhausted, tried to rest on country roads. Some of the survivors were brought to a veterinary clinic. The SPIEGEL put a photo gallery online.
