Ian A. McAulay

The Guitarist Ian A. McAulay (originally from Scotland but for the last 34 years in Holland) was kind enough to add some of his high-flying electric guitar improvisations to my wikiloop and soundcloud tracks. For example yesterday to “NOBODY KNOWS YOU WHEN YOU’RE DOWN AND OUT” (written in 1923 by Jimmy Cox. Bessie Smith recorded it in 1929, later Josh White, Janis Joplin, Eric Clapton, even Carla Bruni):

At first I played my acoustic guitar, added the vocals – but then Ian joined with his electric guitar – we both had our hard times in our lives, so the message comes from our heart – I’m glad that Ian knows Josh White too, he was my first influence to break out https://flickrcomments.wordpress.com/2011/04/28/josh-white/ – read more at http://www.wikiloops.com/backingtrack.php?jamsession=14806

compare the smooth version of Carla Bruni:
