After 40 years I visited the town where I went to school. I lived there as an oppressed poor boy. But 40 years later I came back as a free man, doing what I liked to do: for example to play guitar. The town still seemed to be dead, but I was awoke in the meantime, learned to have expressions and feelings. I left that city Arnsberg 40 years ago poor and nearly dead. Georgia on my mind is an unbelievable attack vs. our emotions. Not only because the music of Ray Charles is divine. It touches everyone’s heart, because we all have left a home we are longing for to come back: The days of old, a sunny childhood, surrounded by friends or parents which are gone. So Georgia on my mind is a song like YESTERDAY by the BEATLES: but with much more expression, soul, feelings. After 40 years I went back to that town, where I went to school: ARNSBERG, Germany, it’s now the background sound of an 18 images slide show, featuring my Dobro guitar, visiting ARNSBERG… – so I call the song: The Arnsberg-blues.
