W., deine unterhaltsamen frühmorgendlichen Erzählungen haben meine Aufmerksamkeit von der Musik weggezogen (gestern vielleicht ganz grundsätzlich) und mich einen erneuten Versuch wagen lassen, mich wieder der Sprache zuzuwenden. Von Luther und Lichtenberg zu Camus oder Canetti hat das Finden der richtigen Worte meinen Lebenslauf immer entscheidend beeinflusst, sicherlich sehr viel bedeutsamer als Musik es je tat. Also habe ich mich ernsthaft daran begeben, Lichtenbergsche Aphorismen ins Englische zu übertragen. Ich lebe sicherlich nicht mehr lange genug, um das zu einem sinnvollen Ende zu bringen.
