Event Type: General Blogging

Start Date: Tuesdays, recurring weekly

Description: Every Tuesday I offer the “A to Z challenge”, walking step by step through the alphabet.
+
Last week we had the “tagged C”-challenge, so this week we’ll create a new turn with “D” – I’m sure you’ll also find a photo, a story or a music title tagged with “D”! Feel free to add in the comments below the link to your personal interpretation of the letter “D”!!! Myself I’ll focus on the protest song “Donna, Donna, Donna”:

DONNA DONNA

Donna Donna, once introduced by Joan Baez: the song was a political statement in Israel during WWII to encourage resistance vs. Nazi racism … read more at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donna_Donna.

What a nice rendition of the song, Fritz. It’s interesting to know that it’s a song about a calf being led to slaughter. Thanks for pointing out that it was a politcal statement during WWII. It’s always nice to learn new things everyday. My Photo Story involves Dinosaurs with an artsy music video. Have a great week ahead! =)

  7. What a blast from the past, Frizz. As teenager with a £4 guitar I used to sing this song, and sing it and sing it (poor parents). I love your version. Here’s my D – Double bass, double take and all that jazz down at the Eagle Tavern: http://wp.me/pKVAM-wE – photos raided from Team Leader’s B & W jazz phase.

Also with 2 Gilad Azmon tracks on the end. Don’t know if you know this jazz man – a man of very left-wing views, but funny too. And a fantastic musician.

I like Bruxelles very much, we have some friends there, sometimes we had a jam session in an Irish music pub; it is a very interesting city with many laid back people and great museums!

I missed ” C” as I was traveling and I can playfully mix “C” and” D” with the giant coat that I call my Bear Coat. I only break it out when it’s really freezing. I took a nice walk during a late night snow in my COAT in the DARK : ) http://wp.me/a2dwKf-1gd

I do recall a song with the name Donna but it’s quite different

      “D is for Dog

      P.S.:
      I’ll never forget our dog
      SARAH R.I.P.
a bobtail, English sheep dog –
thank you for giving a bridge
      to our dog memories;
had fine days swimming with the dog in the ocean,
having our daily breakfast with the dog,
the evenings, the walks in the forest,
      playing with our children,
he was an important part of the family:
It seemed he had a kind of humor:
stealing the ball during a soccer match –
was the star for the audience –
or when he ran into a church
      disturbing consequently a wedding ceremony…
