Cheri from “Daily Post” writes: “We want to see your interpretation of grand, from festive holiday city scenes to the Christmas tree in your living room to other shots that will make our jaws drop. We look forward to seeing your images!”

I’ve been surprised, that without any noise these tall ships have been approaching… MIR – Russian sail training ship, at home in “St. Petersburg”, built 1987, length: 109m, width: 14m, height: 50m, depth: 6,40m, sailcloth: 2771 m2

    • well, Naomi, but I’m not happy about a photo challenge with the topic GRAND: in the contrary I’m searching for the little, weak, emotional findings – like the car I saw yesterday in the street of Berlin during the storm XAVER came in with snow. The word WINTERSTIEFEL means he tries to sell SHOES vs. WINTER …

  2. We were once in Dublin when the Tall Ships were there, by chance – they were really wonderful, and I was surprised how emotional they made me feel. Definitely grand. Great picture!

  9. Amazing! The way most everything is so dark, then having the sun so dramatically light the sails, perfect capture!

    • grand moment, me in the right moment on the right place: for only a few seconds the sun came through the big rain clouds. Hours before we talked with the Russian sailors on board: a very poor life, restricted, they had not been allowed by their officers to visit the city while resting 3 dais in the harbor. No grandiosity to serve there. A romantic picture but a sad social reality.
