I saw trees uprooted by the St Jude storm along the canal in Amsterdam on the television this evening, I hope you are not affected.

yes, some trees were blown down by the storm and destroyed cars and bicycles – but not our boat = luck!

LOL! I had to laugh out loud, watching all the bicycle riders – Amsterdam’s bicycle traffic should be inspiring for many other cities in the world too – maybe even for your Tokyo!

I think so. Tokyo should learn bicycle system from Amsterdam. 😀

I had the idea to rent a houseboat in Amsterdam to spend my birthday there – instead of inviting 30 friends in my hometown as usual. That was a good idea: I’ll do this every year now! Karin’s houseboat is aesthetically perfect, better than any hotel room! Though it is more expensive than a hotel room: you do not need money for eating in restaurants. We bought all our food in a supermarket nearby and enjoyed the perfect kitchen in Karin’s houseboat. TV, books, jazz CD collection – and every morning the swans came and waited for some bread. My wife and me, we’ve been really happy there!
