EEE-Challenge

A-Z Archive
Every Tuesday, step by step, I’m walking with my readers from A to Z, last week we had the “DDD”-challenge, so this week we’ll take “E” – I’m sure you’ll also find a story, video or a music title tagged with “E”! Feel free to add in the comments below the link to your personal interpretation of the letter “E”!!! Myself I’ll feature “Elephants”:

ELEPHANTS

When I recently discovered an article about elephants at photographyblogger: “19 terrific photos of elephants, I remembered, that some photographers kindly sent some elephant pictures to my group BLOG IT too:
Desert Elephants
title=”Desert Elephants” – photo by [P]hotogr[AV], click on the picture to enter the photographer’s galleries on Flickr.com

thanks to Bennetta (read comment below) I found the music ELEPHANT WALK:

– and what about my own guitar music, tagged “E”?
I tried to finger out on my acoustic guitar the BEATLES composition “Eight days a week” (though we only have seven, but they want us as slaves, working eight or ten a week)

    • hi Naomi,
you amused me very much with your storytelling – my favorite fragment (better than any ghost fiction, because it’s hard reality):
      ~
“When we came to a particularly low bridge, he warned us to duck. As we passed under, he pointed out the groove worn into the center stone by the heads of boatmen not quite fleet enough, at least when it came to ducking. How many times, I wondered, would you have to smack the back of your head before you caught on? And how many boatmen had it taken over the centuries to wear a grove in the stone?”

  12. Aren’t those little ones just the cutest things, hugged up close against the adults!! The song that I thought of was, “Elephant Walk” (I think that’s it–might have been part of a movie theme, though I can’t tell you the movie title/stars). See you later with homework, Frizz…

  13. Love this song, and love the way you’re playing it. One of your best for sure.
I already prepared a post. Last week when you presented the DDD Challenge, I had the fore-vision (is that a word in German?) – foresight I suppose – to make a bold leap of logic to consider that E would be the next letter. So I started working on it. E for Energy and Ellington again.

  14. I can’t complain, Frizz, because I love elephants… but I was expecting existentialism… curious about how you would portray that in a picture.

    • Shalom Shimon,
of course I’ve written already about existentialism –

      Existentialism

      – and my duty was, to find one portrait of a majestic existentialist and one of a nervous, fearful existentialist:

      • Shalom Shimon,
I wrote about Kierkegaard and Nietzsche, Jaspers and Buber – you can find the articles in my book
fragments and feedbacks, June-2013 US $12.10
        – but it is very difficult to get attention with such stuff in a blog. So I decided to have my focus on interaction (interaction, an idea of Martin Buber!) – and to feature other photographer’s findings, thoughts, comments …
        P.S.:
        you wrote:
this is a beautiful picture… and I believe it is apt to the subject. It radiates the sort of presence that I would choose to illustrate existentialism. But I wonder… with all due respect for your work as a collector, and administrator of your fine group. whether it wouldn’t be more appropriate for you to ‘meet the challenge’, so to speak, with work of your own. I understand that you have published a book, and I have seen some of your own fine photos that you have captured. When I thought of the letter ‘E’, I was hoping to see some of your own work regarding existentialism.
        ~
        P.S.:
my actual reflection on Existentialism: main part of this philosophy is to focus on courage (and not to get overwhelmed by ANGST). Maybe it is a question of courage for Israel, to follow some wishes of the people of upcoming Palestina: to give them West Jordan Land and parts of Jerusalem demands a lot of courage and trust. I’ve heard about some Israelis who try to respect Palestina: those are good existentialists in my eyes … – what do you think about the chance of those new started negotiations?

        • P.S.:
maybe you realize, that West and East Germany were manipulated to hate each other like North and South Korea. Than the people ignored the propaganda of their administrations and joined! Existentialism also means the risky step into individuality, ignoring the point of view of the common crowd, news magazines, official political statements…

          • there is no charismatic Nelson Mandela for Jerusalem in sight. Image a government in Jerusalem with two presidents (from former Israel AND from Palestina) doing the will of a mixed parliament (50% from Israel, 50% from Palestina): that’s the situation in united Germany (and was in South Africa). As an atheist I can watch only with irony the strange clash of religions world wide. Sunnits and Shiits are killing each other in Syria or Egypt or Iraq. My opinion: religion out off politics (as in France)!

            • I have to jump in & say I love the direction Shimon pushed for the letter “E”, and the resulting thoughts and images: the crow – “majestic existentialist” – yes! – and the cat video – wow, fantastic! And then your subsequent thoughts…and Shimon’s…etc. (Nothing wrong with elephants either!)
