DUBROVNIK

we had our honeymoon weeks in Dubrovnik 50 years ago – and we still can’t forget this wonderful feeling while walking on the top of these walls. It’s a vibrant city: Not only the colors there are vibrant. The people, the music, the architecture, the ocean, the food, the friendliness: too!
and what about music, tagged “D”?
I tried to finger out on my acoustic guitar the old spiritual with the lyrics “Didn’t my Lord deliver Daniel – and why not every man? He delivered Daniel from the lion’s den, and Jonah from the belly of the whale …”

Double Life
Mrs Brown had not seen her husband for ages. He was an agent for life insurance and spent his time travelling from one town to the other.
Sometimes he didn’t get home for the weekend as he was too far away to get home.
She felt very lonely, but she had the children to tend to, their meals to prepare and clothes to wash. She also made clothes for the children as she was a good dressmaker and the baby was only six months old.
All these things kept her busy, but late at night after she had finished all her chores and relaxed, she felt very alone. She wished h?e would phone – just to talk to him would be good. He said the phone calls were too expensive and he said ‘what would she talk about? Only about the kids, shopping, and housework. He didn’t want to pay for such drivel’
Sometimes she had her doubts about him, as he seemed so cruel and selfish at times, but at other times she could only see his good points and wanted only to be with him .
She never went out at night, but this night a very good friend had asked her to a party for her fortieth birthday.
She was able to find a baby sitter and she readied herself to go. She felt a little bit guilty at going out without her hubby. Never mind she needed to go to support her friend.
The night was wonderful, she met many interesting people and chatted and even danced for hours. Suddenly she saw the clock and realised she was running late for her baby sitter. She needed to be home NOW!

And it is not D-cumulation-nonsense: there are always ironic highlights with interesting subtle messages, for example “Grandmother’s delft dishes, damask drapes, and framed decoupage. Declining dessert, they accepted her offer of demitasse, and made desultory chit chat to defuse any defensiveness…”

I so appreciate your response, as I do work hard on these “homework assignments”–as I like to call them. I LOVE words, so I start by making “the list”–as I do that, a story begins to form (accept for “C”–that was a different deal/week). All in all, it takes several days to complete. I’m probably making the challenge more difficult than it needs to be, but–it keeps me off the streets! God bless you.

P.S.: of course I know, that it must be a lot of work, to construct such interesting novels under the silly rule of one letter in focus. But your results are surprising, exciting! They are more than a response to a challenge. They are standing alone – and timeless! Maybe you publish a little book with your experiments from A to Z! And even if no one would buy the book: for sure you would enjoy to hold it in your hands – like me: holding in my hands daily my little blurb book, which was only bought by three: me and two friends in USA 🙂

I have my cup of coffee!!! 🙂 I am sure you had a great time in Dubrovnic….I always always wanted to go there…It was impossible, I was studying and I did not have money, and my mother was always saying: “Do not worry, it will always be there waiting for you”…And then the war came….And it was so destroyed…Sincé then, I always try to visit the places I like as soon as possible…

my special attention was driven to:
“Desperate Drones without a pulse”
– we have a critical drone dispute actually in German parliament:
an US drone started in USA to find Germany via Canada, Greenland etc. – and was lost for a long period of the travel, but suddenly appeared in Germany searching for Germany. But the law forbids drone flights over Germany, because they are dangerous for civil air traffic – no warning systems installed in a drone. It was a typical ghost flight …
