  19. Damn! I had a photo of those Frank Gehry houses in Dusseldorf and couldn’t find it. I found some of his other curvy designs, however, though I have to admit your shots are better!

    • complicated for an architect to build a dome, even more complicated than an arch or a bridge (mmh, our daughter is an architect, I had some lessons). We’ve been mostly impressed by the Pantheon in Rome. In your analysis I like the sentence: “Occasionally arches would fall down when the frame was removed if construction or planning had been incorrect.” That has power for metaphorical searches.
