XANTHIPPE
A dog man, who likes philosophy, often has to suffer under his cat-beast wife and her reality checks; neighbors call her Xanthippe (after wife of Socrates, c. 5 BCE, who has been portrayed as a nagging, quarrelsome, ill-tempered shrew).

P.S. QUESTION: what would happen if the roles were reversed? If HE is hesitating and criticizing HER wishes and dreams and airborne castles? We need a name for it too …

I’m tempted to make a nasty crack and suggest my ex-husband’s name, but I’d feel like too much of a sourpuss. Everything I wanted to do was a bad idea and he complained that paint cost too much money, so he didn’t even like it if I painted. He didn’t like the music I listened to. He didn’t like my accent when I spoke French. He even complained when I baked bread. When I wanted to go to school for a master’s degree, he opposed that too. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. The marriage lasted about four years.

That pup reminds me so much of my long lost dog, Sawdust. (Named for what she looked like when she was rolled up into a ball when I found her in a kennel in CA back in 1970.). I adore that photo. As for fojap, I’m amazed she stuck it out that long. I hope she does EVERYTHING she missed out on and more. I’m sure her accent was lovely.

you’ve composed a great tribute to Xi’an!
1 – Terracotta Warriors were buried with the emperor in 210–209 BC; it was discovered in 1974 by local farmers.
2 – The City Wall is a must see site, 8.5 miles long, 12 meters (40 feet) tall, 12-14 meters (40-46 feet) wide at the top, with 18 gates. It was built in Tang dynasty (618-907)
3 – Subway in Xi’an was a $2.24 billion massive project, it is clean and accessible. Per ticket only costs 20 to 30 cents despite the distance.
