world of helicopters

Once we had a helicopter ride over Manhattan – I’ll never forget that view [photo 1 below]! But of course other photographers took breath-taking shots too, introducing the world of helicopters: So Ben Visbeek, also watching the twin towers [2] in Manhattan or “sOulsurfing”: Coastguard Rescue Helicopters at the Freshwater Bay, Isle of Wight [3]; DVIDSHUB [4] and Defence Images [5] featured military equipment, Stewie1980 a Dutch trauma-helicopter. Maybe the most famous experiment created the photographer Andreas Feininger in Manhattan 1949, [7]: “light-tipped rotor blades of a helicopter as it takes off into the dark sky” [TIME / LIFE]! The great, latest absurd development to bring the heli topic up-to-date [8]: http://designtaxi.com/news/355873/A-Gorgeous-Bejeweled-Helicopter-Fit-For-A-French-Queen/

  1. Aww… you’re making me homesick. I can see my old apartment building in the top photograph. Not my favorite apartment, but definitely my favorite county of residence.

  2. Great photos…I’ve always been afraid to ride in a helicopter…all that glass just freaks me out!

  3. Fantastic view!
My first helicopter ride was in my 20s when I was in Kauai, Hawaii! What a wonderful, spectacular and breathtaking ride! Then when I was in Alaska, I took a helicopter ride over glaciers (Columbia). It was spectacular, but when I looked down into the deep crevasses of the glaciers, I hoped that we would make it back safely because the pilot said one would likely not be found if one fell into a crevasse.
However, I will still ride a helicopter over spectacular views if more opportunities arise.
My hubby wants to do helicopter skiing. I don’t have enough courage to do that myself.
