Hi bloggers,
for our last A-story challenge we talked about Africa (Elizabeth) and aerial poems (Fats Suela), about light airplanes (Jude) and ancestors (Rosa), about action and architecture, the river Alva (Julie) and pop music albums (Martin), about angels (Marina) and artworks (Fergiemoto), about Aqua (Nellibell) and advertising (Stephen), about adventures in Andong (catbird) and the Bridge of Avignon (Madhu), about Ameria (Tricia) or Abby (Polly), about Anahata Chakra and acrobats (Francine), about Avocado (Inge) and Ainhoa (Rois) etc. – I’m sure you’ll find again an own story or a short reflection tagged with “A”! Feel free to add in the comments the link to your personal interpretation of the letter “A”!!!

American Dreams: an Airstream parkhome

frizztext: the American Dream: to be always on the road, riding trucks or vans, mobile homes – or horses. comment by granbee / Rose: “On the Road Again” is very much a HUGE part of the American Dream. Cowboys are still a large part of our hero galleries, Frizz! Wide open spaces and unlimited horizons actually lie within each of us. I prefer to view this post as metaphor for my own dreams of self-discovery and self-realization!” comment by Fergiemoto: “Photo is Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. It is a large salt pan (ground covered with salt) in a desert area. I pass through there many times on my way to and from Nevada. It is very shiny when the sun shines on it.” comment by wardentee: “My father always wanted an airstream. His wish was to pull one all over the country.”

  1. Yes, as an American dreamer myself, I have to say “On the Road Again” is definitely part of the big dream. Excellent! 🙂

  3. My husband loves those things. But he’s from New Zealand! I guess, like Americans, they have a love for those things too. I think caravans and New Zealanders go together like peanut butter and jam, just like American’s and apple pie. (trying to be witty there, not sure it worked!)

    Anyway, Happy New Year! 🙂

    • hi Steve,
I already read three chapters of your Bronx book now and listened to the first two of your songs – do you have a title list of the CD or at least some keywords to have it easier to identify the 17 tracks?
      P.S.:
I like your fragment: “…he bumped into the superintendent John, whose anger was the flip side of his great sadness …” (p.7-8)

      • P.S.:
your book took 4 weeks of shipping, because the customs officer in the Hamburg harbor analysed your book and CD too long – at least I didn’t have to pay any duty …

        • my favorite fragment in your animal rights essay is of course: “The cats were also well represented, and were equally vociferous in their condemnation of human verbal abuse. The adjective catty was roundly denounced, as well as catastrophe, cataclysm, and catatonic. “We’re catty and we’re proud of it! We take catnaps, we sit catercorner, we go to cat-houses, and we actually enjoy playing cat and mouse,” meowed the Persian cat, Fritz Ortiz. In a controversial motion, which was thought by many to have anti-Semitic overtones, the family-name Katz was censured …”
