Story Challenge: Letter “Z”

Hi Bloggers! Do you have to share a story or a short reflection tagged with the letter “Z”? For example I’ve written about “ZEBRA strategies” (read below) or Zeus, about Zeppelins and Zombies, a zoo and a zoom, zero and Zeno, about Zurich or the Zuccotti Park in Manhattan with the “Occupy Wall St.” movement there etc. – I’m sure you’ll find an own story or a short reflection tagged with “Z”! Feel free to add in the comments the link to your personal interpretation of the letter “Z”!!!

ZEBRA strategies

I love the way the zebra are lying in a “wheel” shape…must be so they can be watching all angles… (comment by “sued51” = Susan Desrocher, August 25, 2012)
reply by frizztext: yes, they are looking into three different directions – so the group is safe – a security standard: that is even our cat’s behaviour and goal, if we make a “tea for two”: she joins the group building that kind of triangle (“wheel shape” as you say) – quotation found via Elizabeth Obih-Frank: “Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn’t matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle: When the sun comes up, you’d better be running.” [Anon] more at https://flickrcomments.wordpress.com/2012/04/22/african-wisdom/

      • Frizz,
I looked at that link, the discussion group on existentialism. Very interesting. I tried to enter a comment, but couldn’t figure out the method. The photos were great. There’s a compelling identification that animals elicit from us humans, a common genetic make-up. Schopenhauer talks of the peaceful gaze of the beast, the animal’s natural connection to the divine.Your photo of the grasshopper even connects at that level. My giraffe at the zoo is apparently a philosopher too, albeit with a very long neck.

    • hi Bumba / Steve,
today the postman brought your two books: “Up in the Bronx” and “The Phantom Speaks” and your Blues CD! I’ll try to write an amazon book review – but (beg your pardon) it takes a little time, because I have to translate everything forward to German and back again – but I like your topic very much! [we both needed patience during waiting, because the post took 4 weeks for the long distance!]
