Hi Bloggers! Do you have to share a story or a short reflection tagged with the letter “U”? For example I’ve written about an UMBRELLA (read below) and the underground subways of the big cities, about underwear or understatement, USA or Uruguay, urban and unicorn, Ukraine (Dnjepreprotovsk) or Ushuaia (Argentina), about untold stories or unchained people etc. – I’m sure you’ll find an own story or a short reflection tagged with “U”! Feel free to add in the comments the link to your personal interpretation of the letter “U”!!!
UMBRELLA
…some people put plastic bags over their heads, protecting themselves against the pouring rain, others ran into small shops, this woman left aristocratically with an English-style umbrella the Public Library, 42nd Street, Manhattan…
comments:
1 – gcquinn: not only a stylish woman with umbrella in the rain, but one who reads books!
2 – Ian@NZFlickrs: Overdressed librarian and the man is waiting to catch her if she slips in those high heel shoes
3 – Joe Wig: …She’s the beauty who has to battle the elements. You can feel the wet environment. The man’s an afterthought. In fact, you wonder why he’s slowing down since it IS raining.
4 – thorvaala: I suspect she’s a goddess and that has caused the man to hesitate.
5 – theouterpoint: the mirrored strides and turned heads . . .

“a deadly undertow often awaits an unsuspecting swimmer…” – oh yes, Lisa, I had some bad experiences swimming myself in the Rhine river – and: I rescued 13 people during several years who tried to swim risky, one case difficult because two boys grabbed themselves in panic (underwater) – for one the help was nearly senseless: after the accident his brain was damaged – he couldn’t speak and walk no more …

at first I got drowned in your wonderful sounds: guitar, harp, blues voice – like Mississippi John Hurt singing “Quiet Days in Clichy” parallel to Henry Miller’s Sexus Nexus Plexus. Then I switched to amazon reading there about your book and found some of my old book reviews (once I’ve been a Sisyphus like Camus in North Africa, writing book reviews), David Drebin could be an illustrator for your next book:

Frizz,
If you’d like to review the Up in the Bronx book (which comes together with a music CD!) I’d be delighted to send you a copy. My second book One LIfe, is soon to be printed up again and also could use some reviewing. If you send me your mailing address(via email) I’ll send out a Care package. my email is bumbas24@yahoo.com.
