Hi Bloggers! Do you have to share a story or a short reflection tagged with the letter “K”? For example I’ve written about KOLKATA (= Calcutta) and Kennedy, the Ku Klux Klan or “Knocking on heaven’s door”, about Kite Surfing and kitchen nudes, Kenya and Kick Boxers, Kant and Kierkegaard, the Kao-Hsiung Harbor or Kalashnikovs, Kuwait city and Koalas, Kangaroos and Knights, Kleopatra or Kansas City, Kisses and Kids etc. – I’m sure you’ll find an own story or a short reflection tagged with “K”! KOLKATA / Calcutta
Kolkata is a city where one can drown. Not only during the monsoon period. Not only because there are so many people. But because there are so many things going terribly wrong. Rita Banerji lives in the middle. She comments herself (often in the attitude of a female Sisyphus): “The monsoons are here! We had 3 days of continuous rain. The streets were flooded and people in some parts of the city had to get around on little rubber boats. Strange: you never see anyone wearing raincoats here. But they are good at balancing umbrellas!”

I thought immediately of Kansas City. Well, actually Frizz mentioned it as an example of a K. My fondness for the city (I’ve never been there) I credit to Groucho Marx. Groucho was in an elevator when a fancy woman entered wearing a large elaborate hat. Groucho, with his innate flair for irreverence flicked the hat so it fell over her face. The woman turned to him indignantly. It was the great Greta Garbo!
Groucho said: “Gee, I’m sorry. i thought you was a fella I knew from Kansas City”. Attached here is Bumbaversion of the great blues song.

Interesting letter that “K” sometimes turn into a ‘C’ which sometimes turn into a ‘S’… ‘hahaha’

It is not that weird, the letter K being a picture of something rectangular < hitting the wall or tree | from the right side. If the hit is not to strong, they spoon together a C, but sometimes they go emotional which we see as an S.

Would not have thought of Calcutta as actually beginning with a “K”! I keep thinking of “Kentucky” where my maternal grandmother spent most of her growing up years–the bluegrass, the thoroughbreds, the boyhood home of Abe Lincoln, the marvelous hams, the many fine educational institutions.
