Coming from Germany I had the pleasure to join the Belgian Folk music session at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian “Church of Scotland” in Bruxelles on 4th of May 2012; I played on my American resonator (DOBRO) guitar the old Jewish standard “Bei Mir Bistu Shein” = BEI MIR BIST DU SCHOEN = “you are beautiful in MY eyes” (in the jazzy style of Gypsy swing) – and was kindly supported by the British musician ROB (clarinet) and the French spoken female musician CATOU (4-stringed B.)

hi Myra,
indeed it was a fun experience, I’m sad, that in my hometown there is no interest for such events – we had to drive 3 hours for a 210 km distance …

Frizz, I did not even know there was such a thing as Jewish standards like this and did not know about jazzy Gypsy swing. My son and his family are very active at Central Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, GA where there are many festivals and a wide variety of international music opportunities. Glad to know about this festival there at St. Andrew’s in Bruxelles and their support of all this wonderful music!

would be nice, if they in Atlanta would support folk musicians too, isn’t it?
