I heard many rich Greek people is living now in Berlin! They call it “Spree Athen” = Athens at the river Spree … – they took their money into German banks … – maybe there would be a good location for you to offer your wonderful paintings!

He is actually very skilled. This reminds me of my painting teacher, he used to say “Copy, copy, copy! Learn how to paint like Van Gogh, Rembrandt… there will come a day when you’ll be unable to copy [not for everyone though]. That’s when your own talent shows & grows. As for W.B., well at least he worked hard for the money and do I need to mention the financial status of the VERY FEW people buying original paintings? Would they actually notice the difference or is it the name of the painter and the publicity that matters? In my humble opinion original paintings should be in public galleries and not hidden in some dark fortress! Like the other twisted guy [art collector] who wanted his collection BURNED after his death! [Thank God, art world made sure he altered his will!] Of course a forger is a thief…

it’s sad; the 1 % rich buy art – looking for celebrities – because they do not know how to classify art than by names. They do not know that art means to find oneself, to look deep into one’s own soul, to develop the capability to resist, to minimize aesthetic messages etc. – the rich and the old names are one side of the street, maybe the sunny side, the poor artists who cannot sell their work, getting fearful by increasing anxiety: on the rainy side of the street …

Just an hour ago – I inline-skated at the spot shown in your video 😀 And I also like sitting at the Rhine watching people going by – especially those with dogs. I also like the contrast between the Rhine (blue/grey) and the green grass on the promenade I like to go for walks. I just love rivers, but especially the Rhine.

I agree, and that is true in any fight for liberty, in any country. The contrast gets bigger as more lives are lost. And not only are lives lost by death, but also by physical and mental wounds and scars that rob them of their health. There is often a huge contrast between the person who went to fight, and the person who comes home, if they do make it home. Death, of course, is the worst of the contrasts, although some may prefer death to living as a POW, or with the horrors they survived in battle.
Those who fight for liberty are most likely to be the first ones to lose their freedom, in one way or another.

And those others should at least care for the costs of an effective health care. I can’t even begin to express my anger, disgust, and horror about the atrocities people endured under Hitler. I’ve seen videos and photos of the human suffering and devastation under his reign. I also looked at the photos on your link. Pictures and videos serve as a reminder to this and future generations, but they can’t possibly portray the depth of suffering the people endured.
That said, my “Contrast” post, photos and/or comments, were NOT intended to start a political debate, or to make any type of political statement. I was simply expressing my views in relation to my photos for this week’s challenge.
I’ve lost loved ones in wars through death, dismemberment, POW, and what is now called PTSD. They were whole in mind and body when they left, but not when they came home, whether they were alive or dead. The idea that those fighting a war to bring liberty or peace end up coming home in a casket, or not at all, or without limbs, or in any way wounded physically or mentally, is a huge contrast.
That’s what I meant by my original comment under my photo: “The flags waving against a blue sky create a contrast of color. But the peacefulness of the blue sky is a stark contrast of the wars fought, and the lives lost by the brave, to keep America as the land of the free.”
I referenced America because the photo is an American flag, taken at an American military park; I’m an American, and I live in America. My comments about the eagles were simply in reference to color contrasts – blues in the first, and gold against blue in the second. I love eagles, love watching them fly, seeing them in photos, as art, and taking photos of them when I have an opportunity. The pose of the gold eagle, with wings spread, looks bold and striking against the blue sky to me.
The eagle has been the U.S.A.’s National emblem since 1782.
My first memories and love of eagles actually began as a small child hearing what is now one of my favorite Bible verses: Isaiah 40:31 – “But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” There are at least 12 references to eagles in the Bible.
I’m not going to apologize for a photo I’m proud of, my interpretation of “contrasts”, or for being born and raised American.
I hate war. I hate what it does to people, families, and countries. I hope we can at least agree on that.

I’m not one to comment on the technicalities of the photo so I just want to say I am captivated by that house in the photo. It’s like one of those houses I saw on fairytale books when I was a kid.
