Weekly Photo Challenge: Self Portrait

I tried to deliver to the world a serious self portrait; of course I couldn’t do the job for myself: my wife Barbara had the difficult duty to consider, how to manage the problem. She decided to follow the footsteps of Rembrandt, creating a tribute to his famous painting “The man with the golden helmet”, painted 1650, presenting Rembrandt van Rijn‘s older brother Adriaen, a poor shoemaker in the Dutch city Leyden. But the comments from The Netherlands were not respectful as I had expected. My friend “mezze” from Nijmwegen wrote: “Last time I went out with a soup-pan on my head was in ’71, when I really, finally hรกd to walk my dog, hurricane or not, roof tiles falling down everywhere…“. Rob Hogeslag, The Netherlands as well, replied: “Je krijgt er wel een plat hoofd van. (means: this hat will form your head into a flat hat!). ReyGey: “Reminded me of images from World War 1“! “Auch Einer” (from Germany) wrote: “The hat and the confession in the eyes reminds me of Don Quijote, too. Hope you will find a Sancho Pansa to make a series out of it!” Comment by David Haggard (USA): “At first I thought you had taken the resonator out of your Dobro!” Last not least the comment by emrxgs:”The model has stoic Mona Lisa quality!

  13. OUTSTANDING …. this is the most creative photo I’ve seen for
the challenge. Your wife did a fabulous job. I believe Don Quijote
fits the portrait well. Mona Lisa had her shoulders turned the other
way but it’s a good second. Your sense of humor is terrific.

Also enjoyed the humor, but Rembrandt is so blurry and photos are, by nature, so crisp/clear. Oh well, I guess a hat is a hat?
