Cigar Box Guitar

I was surprised by some great experiments of a craftsmanship self made scene when I heard from the “Frying Pan” 1931, the first electric guitar ever (with “horse shoe magnet” pickup) – made by George Beauchamp, Paul Barth and Harry Watson – now featured in the Rickenbacker Museum, Santa Ana, California

sowas find ich klasse. brian eno hat vor unzeiten auch auf selbst gebautem und gefundenem gespielt…. und auch halb kaputte instrumente noch verwendet…

Frizztext reply: five-string-construction! ja mein freund dirk hat die kaputte gitarre ohne kopf und saiten auf dem müll gefunden und sie wieder zu neuem, eigenen leben erweckt. neben dem keks-dosen-deckel auffällig: 5 saiten nur! wie bei einem echten banjo. dazu musste der hals schmaler gesägt werden. der fehlende kopf wurde aus einem stück holz gefertigt, das ein zirkus beim abbauen liegen gelassen hatte …
