frizztext: some people put plastic bags over their heads, protecting themselves against the pouring rain, others ran into small shops, this woman left aristocratically with an English-style umbrella the Public Library, 42nd Street, Manhattan…
Joe Wig commented: …She’s the beauty who has to battle the elements. You can feel the wet environment The man’s an afterthought. In fact, you wonder why he’s slowing down since it IS raining.
comment by thorvaala: I suspect she’s a goddess and that has caused the man to hesitate.
comment by theouterpoint: the mirrored strides and turned heads . . .
comment by Isadora (read below): you wonder if, perhaps, the man wants to assist her down the wet steps…
compare: an old BLURB-book, where you can find this NY street-shot too… www.blurb.com/books/60079

Great entry
Greetings right back at you: http://wp.me/p1x8xf-1w1
I remember seeing this photo before. It’s a very nicely captured photo. I would post something for the weekly photo challenge, but I am banned from the dailypost.wordpress site – they don’t like opinions there
keep on having opinions – resist the frustration of censorship – post nevertheless …
Hey Frizz. Truly a “fleeting moment” caught here. Thank you for introducing me to your fabulous photos.
excellent, as usual! that could inspire a story. – rita

It s a story
Compliments master
She looks regal, just by her posture. And it doesn’t look like she’s hurrying ( I don’t know how I can tell that). Great photo!
Love the film grain on this photo… was this actually shot using film?
using film 1996
This is a great film shot! Something that digicam can only after using image manipulation.
Beautiful…so classic.
I love this one Frizz, it reminds me of when I used to turn heads
hi Gilly,
thanks for featuring your fleeting water recycling system!
Lovely picture! Thank you for the pingback

like some other bloggerss, I am of an opinion that this moment that was fleetingly caught calls for a story
Very nice capture!
I do not wonder at all that the man is slowing down! Rain, or no rain, he shows great wisdom in savoring this moment of viewing that grace with which this lady descends those steps in the rain! Such fleeting moments must be properly stored in the soul.
i am wondering what the men standing is seeing
nice shot

Very nice ….
perhaps, the man wants to assist her down the wet steps…
P.S.:
I saw her walking like a model on a catwalk – without any help
Frizz, love this photo which I think of every time I go near those steps. Her spirit, and yours, is very much present.
Funny how such a fleeting moment can linger so long in the memory…
beautiful, Frizz… still one of my absolute favorites!
she looks like my wife Barbara:

below, my wife standing inside of the Public Library, Manhattan -
(no rain inside):
Great shot. Still waiting on mine – will be back!
This is a very romantic photo – she has turned that man’s head
What a wonderful moment in time. ft. You got it perfectly.
…oh, so many of them!
Fabulous – I love the composition of the shot – and the sepia feel!
